New Job Posting!!!!!

The Miami Herald is looking for a video journalist to break new ground in compelling
visual journalism. We are looking for someone with a video skill set and a newspaper
mind-set.

We want to bring solid journalism, creative visuals and great story-telling to our
web site using short-form video documentaries.

This is new territory for us and you'll be able to define your role. You'll
be a one-man-band and will need both shooting and editing skills. You'll be
covering the most exciting news town in the U.S., working on both long-term projects
and big news.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Seeking a Visual journalist with a comprehensive knowledge of photojournalism and
video and video production/editing. Looking for a dynamic visual storyteller with
a big-picture approach to the most basic story idea either with still photography
or video.

Three or more years of newspaper, magazine or multimedia experience required. Bachelor
degree or comparable work experience required. Knowledgeable in both Macintosh and
PC is mandatory.

Candidate must have excellent time-management skills and also be able to work an
extremely flexible schedule. The demands of the position will require that she or
he be able to work with several layers of editors and producers.

Photojournalist technical qualifications

Candidate must be proficient in all aspects of digital photography, including knowledge
of photo editing applications. She or he must possess the depth of creativity to
conceptualize and execute interpretative photo essays. Candidate must have expertise
in studio photography including studio and on-location lighting techniques.
Candidate must be able to put life on hold during major news developments, which
includes annual hurricane coverage throughout the state.
Candidate must be able to meet the physical demands of carrying lenses, camera bodies
and additional equipment necessary for the majority of assignments.


Visual journalist technical qualifications

Candidate should have training and / or experience as a visual journalist, able
to tell a story and get the facts straight. Ability to interact with subjects with
sensitivity and understanding, organize images and sound into a comprehensible story
line, and produce under deadlines and pressure with accuracy, fairness and objectivity
a must. Must display an ability to write complete and accurate captions and voice-over
scripts when needed. Understands lighting and production values as well as journalistic
content.
Candidate should have training and / or experience with standard video and audio
production equipment, editing equipment and software.
