Hi Ken McCoy

Two good friends of the firm are writing an academic study of the 1st century BC building in Athens known as the Tower of the Winds.

They are looking for images not just of the original Tower of the Winds but of any and every eight-sided building you can find, preferably as an octagonal two storey tower.

The book won't be published for some time so any payment will be a long way away in the future. As a result we've classed this as a Picture Request rather than a Picture Call, and of course there's no real deadline, so we're asking for the end of the year.

The architecture of the Tower of the Winds has inspired copies all over the Western world, and maybe also the East, and you can see it on the Summary page in your Control Centre on the fotoLibra website.

There are close copies to be found here:
Radcliffe Infirmary, England
Shugborough, England, 1764
Mount Stewart, Ireland, 1780
Plessis-Chamont, France, 1790s
West Wycombe, England, 1759
Soane, Regents Park Church, 1827
St Pancras New Church, England, 1819-22
Addison Toll House, Petersburg, Pennsylvania, USA, 1835
Searights Toll House, Pennsylvania, USA, 1840s?
Edinburgh, Scotland
Swansea, Wales, 1994
Pimlico, England, 1999
Cardinal Newman Institute, New York City
Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, 2004: Octagonal House
Richmond on Thames, Surrey
Porthmadog, Wales, 1997
On the E40 at Soumagne, Belgium, just north of the motorway

So all these would be great, but also any other octagonal buildings you can find anywhere. Please describe precisely where they are in the keywords.

Our friends are also interested in the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates, also known as the Lanthorn of Demosthenes.

The original, pictured on the Summary page in your Control Centre on the fotoLibra website, is in Athens, but there are copies in:
Shugborough, England
Alton Towers, England
Tower of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camden, London
Civil War memorials in Connecticut
Mistley Towers, Essex, England
and elsewhere.

Optional code keyword: TOTWIN
Pixel Dimensions: 2500 x 1750

To upload pictures to this Picture Request in fotoLibra version 4.0, simply click on the Picture Call megaphone icon below a thumbnail in your Collections, and select the Tower of the Winds from the drop-down menu which appears.

Kind regards

Jacqui Norman
