At a time with so much to celebrate...! we're also anticipating Illustration Week, November 10-15th, NYC. Here's a list of what's going on around town:

  • Society of Illustrators. Juries convene for the 51st annual competition.

  • ICON6 transition team meets to begin planning the next Illustration Conference set for 2010.

Tuesday, November 11th

  • SPD at FIT, 7:00-8:30pm, 7th Ave and 27th Street, will present Louped In. Six top photo editors talk about their work.


  • Art Directors Club, 6:30-8:30pm, 106 West 29th Street, A night with John Maeda and Maira Kalman

Thursday, November 13th

  • Our own (grand ol') Party: A Bacchanal, 7:00-11:00pm, 172 Norfolk Street, to launch the new American Photography 24 and American Illustration 27 annuals.

  • All The Art That's Fit to Print (And Some That Wasn't): Inside The New York Times Op-Ed Page, Strand Bookstore, 7:00-8:30pm, 828 Broadway, Jerelle Kraus, former art director of the New York Times will discuss her new book.


  • Art Directors Club, 6:30-8:30pm, 106 West 29th Street, will present Opposites Attract with Gail Anderson and Robynne Raye.


  • Poketo founders (and AI27 jurors) Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan teamed up with Parsons The New School for Design to produce a series of limited-edition wallets created by the illustration department students. Five versions were produced and will be on sale at The AI-AP Party up on the mezzanine.

Friday, November 14th

  • Exhibit of illustrated covers done for Der Spiegel, 6:00pm, Parsons, 2 West 13th Street, 8th Floor.

Saturday, November 15th

Like I said, there's a lot to do and a lot to celebrate! I look forward to seeing everyone out and about soon.
