Tip of the Week

From Animoto:

Seamlessly add video to your photo shoots.

Whether you go back and forth between cameras or use a DSLR with video capability like the Canon 5D Mark II, you don't want to miss the perfect shot because you were shooting video. Rod Evans, the world famous photographer behind Evans Portraits studio and founder of rodevans.tv, has come up with a clever solution to the challenge of shooting video without distracting from your photography.

Rod Evens

Rod uses a cell-phone sized Flip Mino HD to capture 720p video during his photo shoots. The Flip is small and light enough that Rod can attach it to his camera, hit the record button, and forget that it's even there! While there are great brackets on the market, Rod uses one he constructed out of spare parts.

After the shoot, Rod grabs some short highlights from the video footage to add to an Animoto video. He likes adding video clips to his Animoto shows to tell a deeper story, thereby creating a high-end product clients love. A true testament to the value of adding video clips to your Animoto videos, one wedding photographer we recently spoke with successfully increased the price of his Animoto videos from $150 each to $700 each after he added video!  This photographer is now making an extra $13,000/year just by adding a few video clips to his Animoto videos.
