Ken,
Back from travels, now on to a big week.  Class will start Wednesday so I am working on final details.  In addition I should have the camera and lens that we talked about, so will start the tool kit.

On to another exciting week!

I went back into the fields this past week in search of the late harvest bounty of the Central San Joaquin Valley.  In this case it was a grape, called the Red Globe.  It is a large seeded red table variety.  One of the first things I learned in this adventure was to get permission from the owner of the vineyard to take photographs so as not to trespass. The other thing I learned was what crops were in season.  My subject was at hand, and ripe for picture taking.  This particular grape makes its home in California and Australia, or in greenhouses. It requires a long very warm growing season to bring out its sweetness.  Currently we Americans do not like such seeded varieties and go almost exclusively for seedless.  The Red Globe has found great favor in Asia, where Japan and China are leading customers for this succulent treat.   I never have met an agricultural commodity that I did not like to photograph.   I find it a joy to get out on the farms, and see all the wonders going on in the world of California agriculture.

Thanks for listening.
