Getting Ready for my assignments
Just when I thought I had my assignment mapped out my clients called and added new assignments to the roster.... As I was preparing to take this photo an approval letter was emailed to me requesting coverage as well..... This will be a lot of work but plenty of fun.... I have Red Carpet access to Addidas .2006 BET AWARDS and The TMOBILE RELEASE PARTY... I CLEANED CAMERAS AND CLEARED MY FLASH CARDS.... I HAVE ALSO MADE CAPTION SLATES SO THAT I CAN GET THEM ON THE WIRE VERY QUICKLY. FOR REFERENCE. I HAVE THE CLIENTS EMAIL AND PHONE TO ALERT THEM OF INCOMING IMAGES.... TIME IS VERY IMPORTANT IN THIS KIND OF SITUATION. I WILL BLOG AND SEND PIX HERE SO THAT YOU WILL KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING STARTING SUNDAY AT 3PM.=

This 160 /186k daily newspaper in the center of California is searching for a motivated photojournalist for its South Valley Bureau. The successful candidate will be a self starter who can find stories in a content-rich area and bring them to life.
The Fresno Bee's South Valley Bureau is located in Visalia, a city of 100,000 people 45 miles south of Fresno, and is staffed by two photographers, an editor, a regional columnist and seven reporters. Applicants must show a well-rounded portfolio of unique images along with self-generated enterprise that demonstrates personal vision.
Photographers shoot and produce multimedia for The Fresno Bee, FresnoBee.com and the staff photo blog, BeeFocused.com. Applicants should have at least three years daily experience. Spanish language skills are a plus. A good sense of humor helps, too.
Clean driving record required before hire. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug test.

June 10 Deadline for Center for Documentary Studies/Duke University Photo Contest
The Center For Documentary Studies at Duke University has announced that Robert Frank will judge the 2006 CDS/Honickman First Book Prize in Photography competition. The contest is open to American photographers who have not published a book of their work. Winners will have a book of their images published, receive a grant for $3000 and be included in a traveling exhibit.

July 14 Deadline for the Observer Hodge Photographic Award Contest
Established in memory of photojournalist David Hodge, who was fatally injured at the age of 29, while covering the Brixton riots, the award has since helped launch the careers of many aspiring young photographers. Winners will receive a share of the £15,000 prize fund, and see their work displayed in an exhibition in central London in November. First prize is £5,000 plus an expenses-paid photo-assignment for The Observer Magazine.

July 15 Deadline for W. Eugene Smith Grant Applications
The W. Eugene Smith Grant is now open for entries and the deadline for submissions is July 15, 2006, Helen Marcus, president of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund announced. For 2006 grant will be $30,000 with an additional $5,000 in fellowship money to be awarded at the discretion of the jury, Marcus says. The grant program is independently administered by the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund and funded by Nikon Inc.
