Historic Site Photo Request......

This is the sixth of successive large Picture Calls for a forthcoming book, which is titled 1001 Historic Sites. The European section includes sites in Austria / Belarus / Belgium / Bosnia / Bulgaria / Croatia / Czech Republic / Denmark / England / Finland / France / Germany / Greece / Hungary / Ireland / Italy / Malta / Netherlands / Norway / Poland / Portugal / Romania / Russia / Scotland / Serbia / Slovakia / Spain / Sweden / Switzerland / Ukraine / Wales.Because so many pictures are required, we’ve split the list into countries, each of which will need to have the relevant keyword. The keyword is made up of HIST plus the two letter ISO country code. The publisher has definite priorities with the lists – “A List” is the most important, followed by “B List” then “C List”. We’ll be sending the client their lightboxes in that order.Members are likely to receive approximately £30 / $60 / €44 per picture purchased (Platinum Members will receive more). After these calls will come a series of smaller Picture Calls covering the rest of the world. Some locations have been requested in previous Picture Calls. For example you may find some overlap between the recent list for Buildings and the list for Historic Sites, but please treat this new list as entirely new, even if it means you’re submitting the same image twice. This book will be very different – Buildings explores the architectural features of the buildings, while Historic Sites looks at the historical, political and social contexts of the buildings, and the publisher may need different images for the two books as part of that. Effectively this means the same image may have two different Code Keywords.MALTA (Keyword: HISTMT) "C" LIST Valletta / Palace of the Grand Masters / 1571 / Knights of St JohnValletta / St John’s Cathedral / 1576 / tombs of the Knights of St JohnNETHERLANDS (Keyword: HISTNL) "B" LIST Amsterdam / Afsluitdijk / completed 1932 / to close the entrance to the Zuider ZeeAmsterdam / Anne Frank’s House / 1944 Amsterdam / Rembrandt’s House / 1639 / he lived there to 1658Amsterdam / Royal Palace / redesigned for Louis Bonaparte 1808 Apeldoorn / Het Loo Royal Palace / 1685 / and the House of OrangeArnhem / The bridge of Arnhem / 1944 / a bridge too far in 1944NORWAY (Keyword: HISTEN) "A" LIST Arbinsgate, Oslo / Ibsen’s home / 1895 / Ibsen died there in 1906Bergen / Troldhaugen / 1885 / home of Edvard GriegNORWAY "B" LIST Oslo / Akershus Castle / mainly from 1624 / rebuilt by Christian IV: used by the Gestapo during the warOslo / Kon-tiki (Kon-tiki Museum) / 1892 / Kon-Tiki was the raft used by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl in his 1947 expedition.NORWAY "C" LIST Trondheim / Trondheim Cathedral / mainly from c1320 / and St Olaf: burial place of Norwegian kingsPOLAND (Keyword: HISTPL) "A" LIST Czestochowa / The Black Virgin of Czestochowa / 1382 / venerated object of pilgrimage in the Jasna Gora monasteryGierloz / Wilczy Szaniec (Wolf’s Lair) / 1941 Krakow / Wawel Royal Cathedral / 1320 / burial place of Polish kingsKudowa Zdroj / Chapel of Skulls Warsaw / Marie Curie’s Birthplace / 1776 / thousands of skulls and bones, weird?elazowa Wola / Chopin’s Birthplace / 1810 POLAND "B" LIST Krakow / Royal Palace / rebuilt early 1500s Warsaw / Wilanow Palace / 1677 / palace of King Jan III SobieskiPORTUGAL (Keyword: HISTPL) "A" LIST Fatima / Basilico de Rosario / 1919 / site of children’s visions of the Virgin Mary in 1917Evora / Capela des Ossos / 16th century / built of human bones, in the 1510 Franciscan churchPorto / Stock Exchange Palace / 1842 / used to 1991, in the port wine capitalPORTUGAL "B" LISTLisbon / Castelo de Sao Jorge / 1147 / earlier a Moorish stronghold and originally VisigothicLisbon / Belem / Mosteiro dos Jeronimos / 1502 / founded to honour Vasco da Gama’s voyage to IndiaLisbon / Belem / Torre de Belem / 1515Upload data:1. CODE KEYWORD: HIST— as indicated above (input this among all your other apposite keywords describing the image in full and NEVER use the Code Keyword as your only keyword.)4. CATEGORISE UNDER: Heritage> HistoryIf you feel you already have existing images on the site which fit the bill, just add the relevant unique code keyword to them.A) The only way you can make your pictures available for consideration by the buyers in any Picture Call is to upload them to the fotoLibra site ...B) ... and to include the special Code Keyword among your other keywords.C) Do not mark these images as Royalty FreeD) Do not send them to me as there is nothing I can do with them — my opinion would be highly subjective and probably not helpful.E) Please also make sure that they always match or exceed the requested resolutions and file sizes.Kind regardsJacqui Norman
